Toyoshima Violin studio presents original handmade violins, violas, and violoncellos, and sells them.
Adjustments of instruments and bow rehair services are also available.
In custom-made instruments, it will take 2-3 months for violins and violas, and 3-4 months for Violoncellos.




The oil varnish created by Toyoshima Violin Studio is used for instruments.
It is developed in the studio, referring ones created in Cremona, Italy in 1700’s.
The color of the oil varnish is either brilliant dark brown or transparent orange.

1947 | Bone in Akita, Japan. |
1983 | Went to England, I was taught about restoration and making new violin under Ed Smith who used work as head restore with Charles Beare in London. I spent for 3 years as Smith's private pupil |
1986 | Returned to Tokyo and opened my workshop in Yoyogi. |
1990 | Closed workshop and went to England again to brush-up my profession with my teacher Ed Smith. this time mainly I stadied about oil varnish. |
1992 | Moved to Cremona where I wanted to learn a style of today's cremonase iustruments also I wanted to feel an atmosphere of the period of the great masters like as Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri etc. in the meantime l attended school of bow making and got the diploma in 1994. |
1998 | Returned to Tokyo Ikejiri and opened my workshop. since 1995, I am displaying violin, viola, violoncello to the String Instrument fair in Tokyo, since 1999 I was invited by 'Violin shop Sole' in Barcelona where I taught them about restoration and many things in this field. |
2007 | Moved to Sangenjaya, Setagaya-ku. |
2009 | Moved to Daisen-shi, Akita. |
